Authors, editors, and reviewers are required to comply with these ethical standards to ensure the integrity and credibility of the publication process. The following guidelines delineate the ethical responsibilities of each party involved in the publication process:

1.  Duties of Authors:

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure their work is entirely original and properly attribute the work and ideas of others. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
  • Authorship: Authorship should be confined to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All authors must agree to the submitted version of the manuscript and its publication.
  • Data Access and Retention: Authors may need to provide raw data related to their manuscript for editorial review and should be ready to grant public access to such data if possible.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that may impact the results or interpretation of their manuscript.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be provided. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

2. Duties of Editors:

  • Publication Decisions: Editors are responsible for determining which submitted manuscripts should be published. The decision to publish is based on the manuscript's originality, significance, clarity, and relevance to the journal's scope.
  • Fair Review: Editors must ensure that each submitted manuscript is evaluated based on its intellectual content without considering the author’s race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.
  • Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
  • Conflict of Interest: Editors should abstain from handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the papers.

3. Duties of Reviewers:

  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must keep all information regarding submitted manuscripts confidential and must not discuss the content of the manuscript with anyone outside of the peer review process.
  • Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.
  • Promptness: Reviewers should promptly inform the editor if they cannot complete the review within the stipulated time frame and should provide a thorough and timely review of the manuscript.

4. Publisher’s Responsibilities:

  • The publisher should ensure that good practice is upheld to the highest standards outlined in these guidelines.
  • The publisher should have policies and procedures in place for addressing ethical issues, complaints, and appeals.
  • The publisher should offer support to the editor, authors, and reviewers to ensure compliance with these guidelines and to address any ethical concerns that may arise.

5. Procedures for Dealing with Unethical Behavior:

  • Unethical behavior can be identified and reported to the editor and publisher at any time, by anyone. Such unethical behavior encompasses plagiarism, fraudulent data, and authorship disputes.
  • In cases of proven misconduct, appropriate corrective actions will be taken, including retracting the article, publishing a correction or erratum, and prohibiting the responsible parties from submitting to the journal in the future.

These publication ethics guidelines are crafted to safeguard the integrity and credibility of Jurnal Garasi Buku dan Obrolan Keilmuan (Pendidikan, Masalah Sosial, dan Keagamaan). Authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers are expected to comply with these guidelines to uphold the highest ethical standards in scholarly publishing.
